In times of high stress the adrenal glands become taxed, trying to produce lots of the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol has side effects, so it is important to try to balance this when the crunch is on. Of course, the best treatment is to maintain a healthy work/life balance; get at least 7+ hours of sleep, eat well, regular cardiovascular exercise, spend time outside, and schedule time for family, spiritual life and hobbies.
